Beyond Perfecting Foundation and Concealer Packaging
Housed in a heavy glass bottle, Beyond Perfecting Foundation looks simple and chic. The formula is delivered by a large doe-foot applicator wand. I have mixed feelings about this. While I love the ease of use, the doe-foot applicator is very unhygienic. To me, this foundation is marketed towards people with acne. The foundation/concealer hybrid concept, the breathable, high-coverage formula that is said to not block pores, says to me it’d be perfect for blemishes. Which creates such a contradiction. The wand would spread bacteria every use. It’d transfer bacteria from the face to the bottle and vice versa. Further exasperating the acne issue.
How Does Beyond Perfecting Perform?
The applicator does make it extremely easy to apply. It blends out really well and doesn’t take much to get really decent coverage. It does tend to look a little cakey if you use too much product, so beware. I found that my fingers, or a beauty sponge worked best for a flawless application.
As far as concealer goes, it works okay. However, If i needed redness or more coverage to disguise blemishes, I wouldn’t rely wholly on this.
The finish was natural despite the fuller coverage. It wasn’t 100% matte, nor was it glowy, just a really nice medium between the two. I couldn’t feel that heaviness on the skin, which most fuller coverage foundations leave behind. But instead, it felt soft and smooth, without any tackiness.
I found that I was hella glowy after a few hours. You all know, I love the glow, but this next level. I learnt from my mistakes, and since the first application, I use a oil controlling primer and setting powder and it works wonders. My oily skin still made me look dewy and youthful, but without looking like you could fry an egg on my chin.
Beyond Perfecting Foundation and Concealer lasts really well. I get a whole 10 hours out of the application regardless of whether I set it with powder of not. To be honest, I haven’t tested it for any longer than that. Obviously, if I don’t set it, it becomes much more oily but surprisingly still lasts well without breaking down.
Overall Thoughts on Beyond Perfecting Foundation and Concealer
It is a really lovely foundation. It has a beautiful natural finish and lightweight feel for quite a full coverage foundation. The longevity is great, however if you are oily you’ll need to up your mattifying products to ensure you don’t look like a greasy little spud come lunch time.
Who Will Beyond Perfecting Work For?
Most skin-types. But as outlined above, it might get a little too glowy for oily pals. If you prefer something 100% matte I’d steer clear.
