Instagram is a saucy little temptress. If you’re anything like me, you’ll go for a casual scroll and end up adding numerous items to your ever-growing wishlist. I am constantly tempted to buy products based on pretty pictures alone. So, I have decided to share 5 items that Instagram made me buy, and whether or not I regret the purchases.
Let’s have a look.
When Fenty was first launched, I didn’t really buy into the hype. Nothing screamed at me, begging me to take it home. But after some time passed, this pretty little thing kept popping up on my feed and my interest was piqued. Thanks to a late-night, wine-fuelled online shopping sesh, Gloss Bomb landed at Beauty Bender HQ and I am oh-so-glad. The scent is drool-inducing and the kiss of shimmery colour is just perfect to wear alone or over other lip products. The formula is buttery, fairly long-lasting and just so easy to wear. This little beauty basically lives inside my purse now so I can use it all day, every day.
Having normal-to-oily skin, this isn’t the kinda of product that I would normally pick for myself. But after seeing post after post, from bloggers I trust, I bit the bullet and added to cart. And praise be to the beauty gods because I cannot live without this unassuming little tube. CR is a hydrating gel formula that provides a light to medium coverage with a beautiful natural finish. It covers redness, evens out skin tone and just makes you look fresh and awake. One of the best beauty purchases in the past year.
If you follow a lot of beauty bloggers, you’d be very familiar with this gloriously warm eyeshadow palette. The colourway is bloody beautiful. This is definitely the most amount of money that I have spent on one single product – it’s actually embarrassing. And what’s worse? I definitely don’t think it’s worth the money. While the formulas are beautiful and the colour pay-off insane, it is nothing revolutionary. Don’t get me wrong, it’s really high-quality, butttttt I reach for much cheaper palettes over this beauty more often than not. While I am happy I own this palette, it’s definitely not a collection staple.
I lusted after this delicious looking bronzey swirl for so long. Instagram shots made it look so ridiculously dreamy with reviews to match. Having owned this beauty for quite a while now, I can honestly say that Soliel Tan De Chanel is one of the most loved bronzers in my collection – powder or cream. It is easy to use and adds a luminous bronzed glow to the skin with minimal effort. I have used this countless times over 2ish years, and there is no end in sight. It just lasts and lasts and lasts. I couldn’t love it more if I tired. However, if you have a deeper skin tone the 1 and only shade may not be suitable. I have a friend who just cannot make it work for them. So that is something to keep in mind if this tickles your fancy.
This primer really gained some fans on Instagram when it was first released. It seemed to be the answer to the primer prayers of dry and oily skinned gals alike. I find TF products to be a little hit and miss. There are some products, take the Soleil Milk Chocolate Bronzer, for example, that are absolute staples. But there are also other products that completely miss the mark. Unfortunately, the Hangover Primer fits into the latter category. While it is okay, it isn’t a standout. It hydrates the skin well enough, but my issue lies in the coconut fragrance. At first, it smells like a holiday but give it a month, and it turns into the stalest smelling pina-colada scent, that I can’t quite stomach putting it on my face. For the amount of cash, this little guy really needs to have a longer shelf life. This is a definite regret.
Has Instagram influenced you into buying products that you ended up loving? Or has it made you purchase products that you sorta wish you hadn’t?
