Review: AQUIS Prime Haircare System

You know this gal is all about saving time. So when an interesting little haircare system landed on my desk promising quick and easy hairwashing, you know I was intrigued.

Introducing the Aquis Haircare system. This regime shakes up what we know about washing our hair and completely reinvents the process.

What is the Aquis Hair System?

AQUIS Prime is the first-of-its-kind hair care system designed to improve hair health by preventing Hygral Fatigue, the stretching and swelling that leads to damage and breakage while hair is wet. In four easy steps, it protects hair prior to and during washing, sets hair to its natural pH and works with its biome—leaving hair frizz-free, bouncy, shiny, and with longer-lasting color.

It all sounds pretty science-y and instead of trying to summarise it for you, Aquis have already done a great job of it here.

How Does Aquis Work?

To put it simply, wet hair is weak and prone to damage.  This system reduces the moisture absorbed by each individual strand and allows for quick but gentle drying, which in turn, makes hair stronger and prevents damage. The lightweight products nourish the hair without being too heavy or oily. This means happy, healthy hair that stays cleaner for longer, with little effort.

So, now, let’s break down the system.

Step 1: Water Defence Pre-Wash

A really light spray that is applied to your hair pre-wash. This step prevents hair from getting waterlogged and allows the hair to return to its normal PH Level. This step has been really easy to incorporate into my routine. I spritz it on before I apply my cleansing balm, just before stepping into the shower. It doesn’t require a brush through nor any effort at all.

Step 2: Re-Balancing Hair Wash

There is a massive misconception in how we wash our hair, and that is that lather equals clean hair. This is so wrong. As we begin to get more educated and informed, we are starting to understand that the ingredients that make our products lather, really aren’t very good for us.  The Re-Balancing Hair Wash is a gentle, non-stripping cleanser that smooths, softens and re-set your hair’s natural PH level.  It is recommended to complete this step at the end of your shower to further prevent water damage on your luscious locks.  The hair wash is easy to use

Step 3: Rapid Dry Hair Turban

“The less time hair is wet, the stronger it will be” Aquis’ whole theory is based upon Hygral Fatigue.  So the less water our hair absorbs the better. These particular hair turbans have been made to remove water up to 50% faster than regular towels. Normal heavy bath towels absorb minimal amounts of water and tend to cause friction and damage. I’ve used my fair share of hair turbans in the past, and I can confidently say that these are the best and most effective hair turbans I’ve ever used.

Step 4: Restorative Leave-In Conditioner

“heavy doesn’t mean hydrated’ This is a myth that I’ve definitely fallen victim to. As someone with dry bleached hair, I have always used heavy conditioners to boost moisture levels. This often left my fine hair weighed down, but this step has changed all of that.  The Leave-In Conditioner is spritzed onto towel dry hair to prevent hair from being water-logged. Hair is left nourished without being lifeless and limp.

Air-dried hair after using the System.  Soft, shiny and manageable

I am pleasantly surprised.  I have a really fine bleached hair, making it prone to dryness and dehydration. I’ve tried conditioner-less systems before and been left with a knotty, dry mess, but not with Aquis. My hair took no-time to dry and I loved knowing that in the long run my hair will be healthier and less damaged.

Overall Thoughts:

It’s love; I adore how light and fresh the products are and how quick and easy they are to use. I have always used leave-in products anyway, so this has completely removed the traditional conditioner step from my extensive beauty regime, plus it has cut down on drying time – winner.

Aquis are pushing the boundaries and making us re-think what we know about hair care, and I am here for it.  I would highly recommend in the very least, grabbing yourself a hair turban, if not a trial pack to experience this system for yourself.

Aquis is available exclusively from MECCA in Australia. What are your thoughts? Does this kind of product appeal to you?
