For as long as I’ve loved makeup, I feel like concealer is the one product that consistently lets me down. I am forever on the search for that elusive concealer that actually ticks all the boxes. Currently my go-to is the Nars Soft Matte Complete Concealer, but it still just doesn’t get me all the way there.
I am lucky enough not to really need a spot concealer. So, I am after more of an under-eye brightening kinda deal. I need my concealer to be light but with enough pigmentation to disguise any dark circles or tired mum eyes. I want it to be non-drying, not too sticky and not too creasy. Put simply, I do not want my under eye area to look like wrinkly, saggy, grey elephant skin.
What is the Hello FAB, Bendy Avocado Concealer?
This full-coverage, buildable concealer provides a natural, luminous finish. It stretches and bends with skin’s movements throughout the day so it never cracks, creases, cakes, or settles into fine lines. The clean, skin-loving formulation contains avocado oil, vitamin E, and mushroom extracts to help hydrate, condition, and soothe skin while caffeine helps to diminish the appearance of under-eye puffiness and dark circles. The clean formulation contains no artificial colorants, is safe for sensitive skin, and is available in seven adaptable shades.
The Bendy Avocado Concealer contains –
- Avocado Oil for nourishment and hydration. Keeping skin soft and smooth
- Caffeine to diminish the appearance of puffy skin and dark circles
- Vitamin E to boost hydration levels in the skin and prevent free radical damage.
The formula is also formulated without parabens, sulfates and phthalates to be extra kind on that delicate under eye area.
It really does sound like it is on the money. But I’ve been sorely disappointed by smooth-talking claims before. Let’s have a look to see how it performs.
I do want to mention the shade range. In the current all-inclusive climate, having only 7 ‘adaptable’ shades aren’t going to win many favours. But the shades that they do have are pretty good and will work for quite a few skin tones.
How does the Bendy Avocado Concealer perform?
The BAC is housed in your standard tube with a lovely soft doe-foot applicator. The formula is quite thin and seemed pretty pigmented once blended out on my hand.
The concealer blended out beautifully and it was really brightening. The finish was slightly dewy. Weirdly enough, the skin underneath my eyes did feel hydrated and more smooth. I was able to build it up to get more coverage, but not quite to the extent that I wanted. There wasn’t a lot of creasing and the overall finish was really natural. I did set the concealer very slightly with a translucent powder, as without it, I found it creased really quickly.
What are my overall thoughts?
I wore this concealer for 5 days with different foundations and in different scenarios – it worked really well each time. I do disagree with the full coverage claims, but it is definitely buildable with a natural finish. The concealer didn’t crease throughout the day and moved with the skin. I really like this concealer – you could say that things are getting pretty serious. It is perfect for everyday wear, I just wish it had a touch more coverage. It even sat and lasted really well through exercise and running errands. I would, however, reach for something different if I was going for a night out and wanted something a little more full coverage, but otherwise, it is a winner.
You can find First Aid Beauty at Sephora AU. The concealer is dropping in September I believe, but I don’t have an exact date.
Does this sound like your kind of concealer?
